FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of hair extensions do you offer?

I specialise in mini tip and nano tip hair extensions. These are two of the smallest beaded methods on the market. Smaller than micro rings making them very comfortable and discreet.

Will hair extensions damage my natural hair?

No! Hair extensions have been known to cause damage but this is down to poor installation, outdated methods or incorrect aftercare. It is paramount to find a skilled hair extension technician who can offer a suitable safe method whilst teaching you the do’s and don’ts of wearing hair extensions. When installed correctly, hair extensions will grow out neatly and comfortable over a period of 8-12 weeks.

How many hair extensions do I need?

The quantity of strands needed is based on how dense your natural hair is. When adding length to your hair, the extensions need to seamlessly blend past your natural hair; the denser and thicker your natural hair is, the more hair extensions you need. If your hair is fine and less dense, less strands can be used. If you’re wanting to add volume only rather than making your hair longer, you can have fewer strands for a little added thickness or you can wear as many strands as your hair can support – the choice is yours!

Do I need a consultation before getting the hair extensions installed?

100% yes! I will need to colour match your hair with my colour ring so that I can order the correct shades for the perfect blend. During the consultation, I will also extensively talk you through all the aftercare advice, confirm the best thickness and length options for the best results and also provide you with a quote. I have my price list online, however if you wanted to know what price range you’re looking at, please text me some photos of your natural hair prior to booking your consultation,

Will I be able to tie my hair up whilst wearing hair extensions?

I will always ask if you frequently tie your hair up and if so, at least an inch of your natural hair will be left around your whole hair line to ensure your hair covers all the beads when sweeping back all your hair. It is never recommended to wear your hair up high on top of your head for extended periods of times due to the tension is causes around the front of the hair line, as this can encourage the strands to shed more from the front. It is safer overall when tying your hair back to wear it lower, so that your thicker head of hair can sit comfortably all day!

How long do hair extensions last?

The durability of hair extensions is a combination of how well you care for the hair extensions and what quality of hair extensions are installed in the first place. I offer Remi Cachet branded hair which is the best hair brand available, lasting longer than popular brands such as BeautyWorks and Sway!  If you follow the aftercare advice, your extensions can last between 4-6 refits, which is the same as 12-15 months.

Do I need new hair extensions every time they are refitted?

Hair extensions can be reused. After having new hair extensions installed, you must come back every 8 – 12 weeks to have the same hair removed and re-installed as they will be growing out with your natural hair continuously and therefore will move further and further away from your scalp the longer you wear them. It is unsafe to leave the hair extensions in unmaintained for longer than 3 months. When the hair extensions no longer feel nice or the tip on the extension becomes to weak, they will need to be replaced.

What can’t I do whilst wearing extensions?

Wearing extensions is a commitment but they won’t hold you back! You can still wear your hair extensions when swimming, horse riding, skiing and even getting an MRI, as long as your follow all the correct aftercare advice.

Do you offer payment plans?

I can accept PayPal if you have applied for a PayPal ‘buy now pay later’ credit, which offers the same payment plans like popular providers, such as Klarna etc.

Is there parking at your salon?

Of course. I work from a salon on a residential property with a large drive way that offers free parking. You can park in either of the two spaces outside the property annex on the left of the house, or you can also drive around the fountain and leave your car there. Basically as long as your aren’t blocking the paved entrance of the drive way, park anywhere you see space.

Is the salon easy to find?

Newmarket Road is a long road, my salon is number 195A which is the far end of the road nearing the A47 rather than the city end near St Stephens. When leaving the city, the house will be on your right hand side  (bus lane side). If you see  the ‘Newmarket Dental Clinic’ sign, the salon entrance is roughly 150m further down with white painted stones just between the gate posts on the turning in.

If you are coming from the A47 or A11, the house will be on the left hand side alongside the bus lane. Once you pass through the lights and then the turning for Unthank Road, the house is less than 100m away. You will pass the flashing 30MPH sign and then the bus stop at the the lamp post after, the turning into the drive way is one lamp post after this.

Can I bring my child to my appointment?

As long as your child is well behaved and independent enough to wait whilst your hair is being done, they are welcome! However, I do ask for you to only bring one so that there aren’t any delays during the consultation and I also only have one other seat in the salon for a guest to sit at.

I do also try to accommodate client’s bringing their young babies, however if you are needing to stop and have your child on your lap often, this can be tricky as it makes it difficult for you to keep your head still enough to carry out a good service. If you cannot take time out of breast feeding and you need to bring your baby for this reason, please update me in case I need to account for extra time.

I do have dogs often in the salon who are friendly, my two golden retrievers and a terrier, so please take this into consideration if your child is scared of dogs.
